Most of the time, when we are working on developing project material, we share our work
in progress through our mailing lists. It's fast, and anyone subscribed to the lists
can share material this way.
Sometimes we have large amounts of material in draft form that needs to be shared with
large numbers of people, but which is not ready to be placed on the web site for public
consumption. For a variety of reasons, sometimes this material cannot be shared
through our project lists.
When this happens, the material is made available to people through a special address
for a limited amount of time (usually a day or two). The address is sent to the
mailing lists, and the files are then removed from the server after folks have had time to
download and save them.
We don't use this often, because it slows things down considerably. The material
has to be sent first to our project communication director, it has to be uploaded onto the
server, and the address needs to be shared through the lists. Then, when the
material has been distributed, the material has to be removed from the server.
If you are looking for a file that has been placed temporarily on the web in this way,
and the file is no longer available you will get our File Not Found message. Contact
our communication director and we will arrange
to get the file to you.
Draft material is made available in htm format
for simpler documents and as ADOBE ACROBAT PDF files for more complex
files. See our ADOBE page for more information.
