Copyright Issues: Rising quickly in importance (and violations) is the
legal issue of copyright. Messages should not be posted if they include
copyrighted information and the copyright owner has not consented to the posting.
Copyright consents should be obtained in writing to protect both the originator and the
project. Individual messages to the list are also protected by copyright--with the author
owning all rights. See: http://www.fplc.edu/tfield/cOpyNet.htm
for a great guide to copyright on the net.
Courtesy: Be kind and respectful to one another on the lists. Do not
post messages that appear on the list to individuals who are not list members, or to other
lists, without permission of the author. If you are copying/forwarding a post to the list,
please indicate within the body of the message that you have obtained permission to do so.
Libelous Statements: Libelous statements are messages that contain
information about another person or company that are arguably:
not factual;
contain malicious information;
contain information that is
injurious to the reputation of another.
A statement can be libelous even though the person or entity is not specifically named
if that person or entity can be identified by others.
