Listservs are best used for: : Posting general announcements : Checking members' schedules to arrange a teleconference or face-to-face meeting : Posting agendas prior to meetings : Posting urgent group messages : Facilitating group or subgroup dialogue about a specific topic : Bringing project-wide issues to the attention of the group : Assigning tasks : Posting notes from meetings :
Arranging time to dialogue in the chat room Chat (Yet to Be Utilized By COSP Members) Chat provides a place in cyberspace where work group members can meet and communicate by computer with one another. COSP members have access to two forms of chat -- project casual chat and Delphi project chat. Casual chat is for communication that does not require extensive documentation (chat logs). Through Delphi project chat, participants can get a transcript of the chat session by issuing a log command. One of the major benefits of chat is that it is free and no conferencing charges are incurred by users. Chat is best used for: : Regular or periodic get together of work group members or subgroups : Bouncing an idea off another member or members of COSP before proposing it to the group-at-large : Planning a specific event or activity after the major decisions have been made and issues resolved, for example, developing a joint presentation : Brainstorming Website The COSP website is found at http:\\www\cstprogram.org and represents a tremendous informational resource for COSP members and other interested parties who are not directly involved with the project. The website meets the accepted standards for American Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility. All images have alternate text tags and there are text alternatives available for any item which, in its native format, cannot be used by the special web software that people with disabilities use. The
website is best used for: : Posting lengthy or heavily-formatted documents (common protocol, tables, charts, or graphs) that need to be distributed to COSP members : Providing an orientation to the COSP for new members : Posting and reviewing calendar announcements of COSP events, meetings, or other activities : Acquiring detailed information about the various components of the COSP project : Posting notes from face-to-face meetings and teleconferences : Obtaining information about computer software, hardware, viruses, Y2K compliance : Obtaining information about the eight study sites involved in the COSP multi-site research initiative : Downloading project documents such as the logic model : Obtaining specific information about various aspects of the COSP initiative through the website search engine.
