Core Competencies of Providers of Through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency, the Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research at the University of Pennsylvania is supporting a consumer panel to investigate core competencies of providers of consumer-operated services. The Program in Consumer Studies and Training has compiled an extensive annotated bibliography on peer-run programs, produced a review of consumer-operated services literature, identified exemplary models of peer-run services, and prioritized and grouped core competencies of peer providers using a focus group technology called concept-mapping (http://www.conceptsystem.com) in collaboration with fifteen consumer participants. Core competencies of traditional mental health service providers were also identified by consumer stakeholders. |
